In childbirth, systemic racism is the root cause of disparities leading to higher maternal mortality rates for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Doula support from people from the BIPOC community improves outcomes and makes a difference in more positive birth experiences. Doulas are an essential part of collaborative, respectful quality care. Debra is committed to offer scholarships to individuals who identify as BIPOC and have shown:
~ A commitment to addressing racial and/or social justice
~ Have a financial need for scholarship assistance
~ Will use doula skills to support their community

Meet Debra
Debra Pascali-Bonaro is a world-renowned inspirational speaker, filmmaker, doula trainer, childbirth educator, and author.
Debra Pascali-Bonaro is also Co-Chair of the International Childbirth Initiative and Chair of the International MotherBaby Childbirth Initiative both of which promote safe, respectful childbirth maternity care. Sydney Henriques-Payne is an organizational strategist and executive coach with a focus on inclusive leadership practice, change management and equity.
An HR Business Partner and learning designer by trade, Sydney brings a people-focused lens to leadership with equity at its center. She is the founder of Bridge & Ladder, a consulting company that supports individuals and organizations on brand and business development through organizational and product design, strategic planning and enhancing leadership capacity. She supports clients that range from individual influencers and solo-entrepreneurs to mid-size organizations with multi-million dollar budgets. Read More
Stephanie Henriques is social services strategist, licensed social worker and doula focused on safety and thriving. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of Preventive and Technical Assistance at the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) where she oversees 70+ agencies providing services on behalf of The City of New York.
She has a track record of success working with children and families beginning with prenatal care and birth. She works across the health and human services continuum in service of families, including parent support, evidence-based child welfare practices, clinical models for mental health, physical wellness and nutrition, as well as education advocacy and supporting entitlement connections (Medicaid, WIC, Public Assistance, housing, etc). She has experience in program design, program management, evaluation and continuous improvement. Cancellation Policy
- If you find it necessary to cancel your reservation, the following cancellation policy will apply.
- Three Months prior: We will refund workshop monies received, less $150
- Less than 3 months prior: A cancellation charge of 50% will be withheld.
- One month prior: No refunds will be made at this point
