I’m a biologist from Austria focusing on the female cycle and many other women topics. I’ve always known how important it is that women are informed and that we are supposed to be confident. But I used to be a little insecure of how women should be taught that they need to trust themselves. Becoming a doula so strengthened and encouraged me. When I met Debra I was very inspired of how she is treating everybody and everything. It’s not “just” about being a doula. This is about the whole life here on earth! It’s important that we treat each other with respect and dignity in all situations. As doulas we help that the beginning of a baby’s life is gentle. It does make such a difference when we welcome the new being in the best possible way because it affects everything. It spreads throughout motherhood, parenting, school, abilities, talents, what we’ll do in life and all challenges life has for us.
I think life is how it is because so many people’s births have been rough. But as Debra says we are humans and we have the chance to heal. By healing births we can leverage to heal many things. I’ve gotten to known a lot of other passionate women who have the same goal. Their ways are different but I believe that it needs every single one of us. Together we are able to make a change.
Thanks to Debra I also became a B-Schooler and I’m part of her Birth your Dreams group. Here I get actual tools to reach people who are interested in our message. Having the knowledge about the female cycle, being a doula, preparing couples for pregnancy, birth and postpartum is one thing but the other thing is that people out there who are searching for other ways in our broken system do find our offerings. The network of contributing people helps a lot.
I’m so grateful to be a part of the doula sisterhood, B-School and Birth your Dreams and help make this world a better place…
